PENGUINS DILEMMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ice is melting very fast with it Penguins are also dyeing at very fast pace. It has been estimated that penguins will become extinct till 2030. The only way to save penguins is to reduce carbon emissions, so that ice stops melting. Penguins cannot live in hot conditions, so we have to save ice in order to save them. We have to act now to save penguins because tomorrow will be too late.

RED PANDA`S NIGHTMARE

The red, or lesser, panda is much smaller than the better-known giant panda. It also doesn't even look like a smaller version of the more famous black-and-white bamboo bear.
While estimates of red panda numbers vary widely, there may be fewer than 2,500 adult red pandas alive today. Some scientists fear that the red panda is even more endangered than the giant panda in China. Red pandas are prey to hunters who sell their rich, soft pelts. The fur is used to make hats and clothing by some of local peoples. Snow leopards are the main natural predator of adults.
In recent years the red panda's habitat has been disturbed profoundly by increasing human populations. People log the forests for building materials and fuel, and their domestic animals consume understory plants and compact fragile montane soils. Even minor disturbance in this fragile habitat, such as clearing small patches for agriculture, can initiate a devastating chain reaction of erosion and soil damage.

RHINO HORN AS MEDICINE????????????

Shy, secretive creatures living in dense rainforest, Javan rhinos are difficult to find. Over the past 14 years, Rhino Protection Units have tracked the rhinos daily, usually by following signs such as dung and footprints. This intense monitoring and protection has essentially eliminated losses from poaching. Even though poaching has been eradicated in Ujung Kulon, Rhino Protection Units remain vigilant. Rhino poaching in Africa has reached a 15-year high, and last month’s loss of a Javan rhino to poachers in Vietnam is of grave concern. Rhinos are killed for the sole intention of selling their horns on the black market, which are used in traditional Asian medicine to reduce fever.

Latest news@Rhino

The world’s most threatened large mammal species, the Javan rhino, suffered another devastating setback when a carcass was discovered in Indonesia’s remote Ujung Kulon National Park last week. Ujung Kulon holds the only viable population of the critically endangered species; no more than 48 Javan rhinos remain on the planet, and at least 44 of those are found in Ujung Kulon. Fewer than four animals of unknown sex and age may remain in an isolated population in Cat Tien National Park in Vietnam, where the carcass of a poached Javan rhino, with its horn removed, was found last month. This recent loss reinforces the critical need for bold action to save this species. Although the rhino population in Ujung Kulon has remained relatively stable over the past 20 years, the overriding problem facing the species is that there is only one viable population in one location. Thus there is still significant risk of extinction from a single natural disaster or introduced diseases.

In another incidence an eight-year-old white rhino bull was shot dead with an AK47 rifle at Karkloof Spa at Otto's Bluff on Friday night.

snow leopards

Researchers estimate that there are between 3,500 and 7,000 snow leopards left in the wild. There are about 600 of these cats in zoos around the world.
Snow leopards are sparsely distributed across 12 countries in Central Asia: China, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia. China contains as much as 60% of the snow leopard's habitat.
In Kazakhstan the skin of snow leopard is sold for $ 10000. In Pakistan and Nepal snow leopard has been killed by the farmers for saving their livestock.
Reasons for the snow leopard's decline include hunting for fur and as a trophy, killing by farmers because of its reputation as a livestock predator, and loss of prey due to man's hunting of the prey and competition of prey with domestic livestock. Large scale pika and marmot poisoning programs have also been conducted on the Tibetan Plateau. Recently, use of its bones in oriental medicine has been a major reason for commercial poaching, since cites has decreased the trade in its skins.

EXTINCTION OF LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

Lions are dying off rapidly across Africa. These cats once ranged across the continent and into Syria, Israel, Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, and even northwest India; 2,000 years ago more than a million lions roamed the Earth. Since the 1940s, when lions numbered an estimated 450,000, lion populations have blinked out across the continent. Now they may total as few as 20,000 animals.
In Kenya the lion population fell to about 2,000 animals, from 2,749 in 2002. In India only 400 lions are left. In South Africa lions are being hunted for $25000 by the Americans and Europeans. This ruthless killing of lions in South Africa has to be stopped.
The reasons behind tremendous decrease in lion population are climate changes, habitat destruction, disease and conflict with people. If no steps are taken to save lions then they will get extinct till 2020.

SAVE TIGERS

3 subspecies of tigers – the Bali, Caspian, and Javan tiger – became extinct in the 20th century, and many scientists believe a 4th, the South China tiger, is “functionally extinct”. In India less than 1400 tigers are left. Many laws have been created, but still killing of tigers has not been stopped. In India it is estimated that the tiger is being poached at the rate of 1 per day. At this rate the wild tiger in India will disappear within the next 5 to 10 years unless serious measures are taken to protect it. In China 43% of the population has admitted that they have been consuming product which contains tiger parts.
Actions have to be taken immediately to save tigers worldwide. Avoid taking anything which contains tiger flesh or any part of tigers.

ABOUT DOGS- THE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

There are more than 1000000 stray dogs in India. About more than 10000 stray dogs dies every year due to diseases, inadequate food consumption and in road accidents. Reports are pouring in daily about stray dogs going missing from the localities in large numbers. It seems that local authorities are dislocating the dogs so there are no stray dogs in the city at the time of commonwealth games.
We can save dogs by adopting the stray dogs so that they do not die or being killed. As dogs are man’s best friends.

WORLD OF GIANT PANDAS

The Panda, also known as the Giant Panda, is a species of Chinese bear, black-and-white in color, which is almost on the brink of extinction. There are only around 1000 of them existing in the wild, while there are a little over a 100 of them in captivity. The main reasons for its extremely low population numbers is deforestation and poaching. Their habitats are being destroyed daily as are their food supplies giving them physical, mental and biological disabilities. Only 61% of the giant panda population is protected against poaching and habitat destruction. The right to live in their natural habitat should be available to all the animals including Giant Pandas. We should preserve their natural habitat and their right to life.
